About the museum
The Centrum Edukacji Technicznej w Goczałkowicach-Zdroju, also known as Eko Tama, was set up around 2010 at the entrance to the crest of the Goczałkowice Reservoir dam. It was created by Adam Skowroński of the company Ecoclima, who had previously launched a similar Centre of Meteorology and Renewable Energy on Czantoria in Ustroń.
The exhibition covers four areas: meteorology, astronomy, the dam and renewable energy. Visitors can measure basic weather factors themselves using professional meteorological and hydrological equipment, look at historical instruments from the early 20th century, see a model rocket on a spaceport and try on a replica astronaut suit, and, in good weather, observe sunspots through a telescope. The grounds also feature a wind turbine and a solar collector, and the exhibition includes models of a hydroelectric power plant and a nuclear reactor.
According to more recent tourist reports, visits are only possible for groups of at least 10 people, and the site needs renovation.
