About the museum
The Dom bł. ks. Antoniego Rewery (House of Blessed Fr Antoni Rewera) is a memorial room in the parish house by the Church of St Joseph in Sandomierz. The exhibition was set up on the site of the former presbytery, where Fr Antoni Rewera lived until his arrest by the Gestapo in 1942. Rewera had been parish priest of St Joseph’s parish since 1934; he died in a German Nazi concentration camp and was beatified as one of the martyrs of the Second World War.
The memorial room was solemnly opened and blessed on 17 November 2007. It was created thanks to the efforts of Fr Zygmunt Niewadzi, the parish priest and advocate of the cult of the Blessed, and Marian Stępień, Rewera’s nephew. The collection contains mementos of the blessed priest.
The cult of Blessed Antoni Rewera remains alive in the parish; a common prayer to the Blessed is said on the 12th day of every month. A commemorative plaque about his life has also been placed on the wall of the bishop’s garden in Sandomierz.
