About the museum

The Lubuskie Centrum Winiarstwa (Lubusz Wine Centre) in Zabór near Zielona Góra presents the history of winemaking in the Lubusz region, revives the region's winemaking traditions and promotes modern viticulture. Vines were grown here as early as the mid-12th century. Today 55 wine producers are registered in the Lubusz Voivodeship, cultivating more than 170 hectares of vineyards – more than anywhere else in Poland. The centre is run by the Marshal's Office of the Lubusz Voivodeship.

The modern building, fully adapted to the needs of people with disabilities, houses an exhibition hall on the history of winemaking, a room showing the wine production process, an interactive conference room and a large hall for around 100 people. The centre describes itself as a unique wine museum in Poland. It also serves as a scientific and educational base for wine students at the University of Zielona Góra and as an advisory centre for local winegrowers.

The centre offers guided tours for individual visitors and groups in Polish, English and German. It organises events that follow the winemaking calendar, such as the Lubuski Festiwal Otwartych Piwnic i Winnic (Lubusz Festival of Open Cellars and Vineyards), the grape harvest in the municipal vineyard and the Lubuskie Święto Młodego Wina (Lubusz Young Wine Festival). It also runs lessons on the history of winemaking for young people, sommelier workshops and culinary demonstrations.
