About the museum
The Baszta Bramy Krośnieńskiej (Tower of the Krosno Gate) dates from the second half of the 15th century and belongs to the former town fortifications of Kożuchów. The town walls were built at the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries; they were about 8 metres high and surrounded by a moat. Since 1992 the Izba Regionalna (Regional Room), a historical and regional institution of commune-wide reach that shows permanent and temporary exhibitions, has operated in the tower.
The collections include souvenirs connected with the town, photographs, postcards, chronicles, documents, town plans, letters, and replicas of knightly armour and weapons. The room is looked after by the Centrum Kultury “Zamek” (Zamek Cultural Centre) in Kożuchów, which also makes available for visits the Zamek Książąt Piastowskich (Castle of the Piast Dukes) and the Lapidarium.
