About the museum

The Muzeum Akademii Sztuk Pięknych we Wrocławiu was established in 1954 by Prof. Stanisław Dawski, who had previously created the Zbiór Prac Studyjnych (Collection of Study Works). The institution was meant to serve as the academic and teaching base of the new university, and from the outset it collected the works of teachers and outstanding diploma and course works of students.

In 2015 the museum was renamed the Ośrodek Dokumentacji Sztuki (Art Documentation Centre), and since 2017 it has been a member of the Stowarzyszenie Muzeów Uczelnianych (Association of University Museums). The collections include works in ceramics and glass, painting, graphics and posters, as well as photographs and documents from the life of the university. Among those represented are Eugeniusz Geppert, Xawery Dunikowski, Alfons Mazurkiewicz and Natalia Lach-Lachowicz.

Part of the collection is displayed in the permanent exhibition, and the centre also organises temporary exhibitions, meetings with artists and publications. More than 18,000 objects are available in the free Archiwum Cyfrowe (Digital Archive).
