About the museum

The Muzeum Bitwy Warszawskiej 1920 roku w Radzyminie was established as a branch of the Warsaw Museum of Independence on 15 August 2023. Its seat is the historic caretaker's house of the Cemetery of the Fallen of 1920, built in 1935, also known as the Świetlica or the Pilgrim's House. The building was thoroughly renovated and a new exhibition and office pavilion was added to it, so the museum has a total floor area of about 700 m². The first permanent exhibition opened on 15 August 2025.

The exhibition presents the Battle of Warsaw of August 1920 as the decisive episode of the Polish-Soviet War, and also tells the story of the local community of Radzymin, which found itself at the centre of the fighting. The narrative is divided into two parts: a general one about the course of the war and the battle, in the new pavilion, and a local one about Radzymin, in the historic Pilgrim's House. Visitors can use short guide texts, maps, a chronology and archive photographs, as well as multimedia kiosks with biographies and source materials.

Several hundred exhibits include memorabilia of individual participants in the fighting, among them the Silver Cross of the Virtuti Militari Order of Bruno Romiszewski and Paulina Choromańska, as well as contemporary works of art commemorating the Miracle on the Vistula. Some objects come from deposits of other museums, but most are from the collections of the Museum of Independence.
