About the museum
The Muzeum Kresów Wschodnich (Museum of the Eastern Borderlands) in Węgliniec was established in 2001 in the municipal park. It is run by the local branch of the Towarzystwo Miłośników Lwowa i Kresów Południowo-Wschodnich (Society of Friends of Lwów and the South-Eastern Borderlands). On the plot made available, 30 m of railway track were laid, on which two closed, original wooden goods wagons donated by PKP Cargo were placed.
The first wagon serves as a resettlement wagon: it is furnished with everyday objects used by Poles resettled from the South-Eastern Borderlands after the Second World War. Among the exhibits is a figure of the Immaculate Virgin Mary from the church in Buczacz. The second wagon shows an exhibition of photographs of old Borderlands towns, including Lwów and Kamieniec Podolski.
