About the museum
The Muzeum i Gród Średniowieczny w Brzeźniku (Museum and Medieval Stronghold in Brzeźnik) is a private initiative of Julita Krzecka-Kłonicka and Zenon Kłonicki. The stronghold, opened in September 2013, is a reconstruction of an early medieval settlement surrounded by a wooden palisade.
Inside stand the huts of a blacksmith, a fisherman, a weaver, a herbalist, a hunter, a potter and a farmer, as well as utility buildings such as an armoury, a temple and a warriors' hut. The household utensils, agricultural and craft tools, weapons and clothing on display are replicas of former objects. Farm animals are also kept on the grounds of the stronghold.
The site specialises in organised groups: it offers guided tours, weaving, pottery, cooking and archery workshops, and demonstrations of warriors' fights. Rooms can also be rented for events.
