About the museum
The Michalite Sisters’ Mission Museum in Miejsce Piastowe is housed in the General House of the Congregation of the Sisters of St Michael the Archangel, next to the Church of Our Lady Queen of Poland and St Michael the Archangel. It was established in 2006, and its opening and blessing were performed by Archbishop Ignacy Tokarczuk.
The exhibition occupies several rooms. They display collections brought back from the missions, among them objects from Africa – from Libya and Cameroon: costumes, ornaments, masks, musical instruments, everyday objects, toys and paintings, as well as documentation of the sisters’ mission work.
One of the rooms is dedicated to the memory of Mother Anna Kaworek, co-founder of the congregation. In 2006 Archbishop Edward Nowak blessed a room with an exhibition on St John Paul II and Blessed Fr Bronisław Markiewicz.
