About the museum
The Centrum Dziedzictwa Szkła opened in 2012 in the centre of Krosno, a town that has been associated with the production of glass, crystal and fibreglass for more than five centuries. The centre presents the history and technology of glass in an interactive way, and in 2013 it won the title of Best Polish Tourist Product. In 2025 it was named the best tourist product in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship.
In the main building, visitors can see permanent and temporary exhibitions of glass objects and a film about the history of glassmaking in Krosno and the region, as well as glassworks demonstrations in a small glassworks, where glassblowers shape the glass by hand. In the Piwnice Przedprożne cellars on the other side of the Rynek, collections, tools, moulds and a furnace are on display. One of the cellars also houses a small optical laboratory that shows how glass is used in science and technology.
Visits are guided, and the centre also runs workshops where you can paint, engrave, grind and shape glass. Individual visitors can, by arrangement, try glassblowing at the furnace themselves.
