About the museum

The Muzeum Parafialne w Bliznem (Parish Museum in Blizne) operates at the local parish of All Saints (pw. Wszystkich Świętych) and is housed in a wooden curate's house that dates from the end of the 17th century (sources give the year 1699 or earlier). The building belongs to the church and rectory complex, in which, besides the church, there stand a barn with a cart shed, an outbuilding, an almshouse for the poor and the parish school.

The All Saints church in Blizne, a late Gothic building of log construction from the 15th–16th century, was entered on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2003 as one of the wooden churches of southern Lesser Poland. The interior is decorated with rich polychromy from the 15th–17th centuries, and the side altar holds a figure of Our Lady of Full Grace (Matka Boża Łaski Pełnej) from around 1500.

The museum holds memorabilia related to the history of the church and the parish, as well as old agricultural tools. Its most valuable exhibit is the manuscript “Villa Blizne episcopalis visitatia 1745”, a copy of the visitation by Bishop Wacław Hieronim Sierakowski. Visits to the church and the museum are possible after prior arrangement.
