About the museum
The Muzeum “Potoki” is the private Museum of the Material Culture of the Subcarpathian Village of Augustyn Rybka. His collecting began at secondary school, with a coffee grinder; the owner then collected stamps, coins, orders and banknotes. When the collections no longer fitted into the cellars of the house, in 2000 he rented premises in an empty manor house next to the Błażowa park and showed the collection to school groups and enthusiasts. After the manor house was sold, a new home had to be found.
A ruined farmstead was found in the hamlet of Wilczak in Błażowa Górna, and the exhibition was moved to a large old barn that had been saved from demolition. After the flood of 2010 the building was renovated and reopened in April 2012.
The barn houses an almost complete ethnographic exhibition: reconstructed and fully equipped workshops of a shoemaker, a wheelwright, a cooper and a carpenter, and a weaver's room with a loom. Also shown are sculptures, wall hangings and devotional objects by local artists, a school classroom and a village room from the 1930s, a collection of sacred oleographs, and old technical devices and agricultural tools.
