About the museum
The Muzeum Pożarnictwa im. Stanisława Dydka w Starej Wsi (Stanisław Dydek Fire Service Museum in Stara Wieś) is a branch of the Muzeum Regionalne im. Adama Fastnachta w Brzozowie (Adam Fastnacht Regional Museum in Brzozów). The institution was founded in 1986 on the initiative of Stanisław Dydek, who looked after the exhibition on a voluntary basis for many years. It is housed in the Dom Strażaka (Firefighter’s House).
The exhibition occupies six rooms. It shows historic fire vehicles, among them a horse-drawn fire wagon from 1928, Dodge cars from 1950 and a Star N71 from 1952, and a trailer for a motor pump from 1953. There are also fire pumps, helmets, parts of uniforms, banners, decorations, documents and photographs relating to the history of the fire service. A separate part of the exhibition presents old tools and everyday objects from folk culture.
The museum operates seasonally: from May to September staff are on duty on set days, and at other times visits are possible after a prior phone arrangement.
