About the museum

The Muzeum Norbertanek Żukowskich (Museum of the Norbertine Nuns of Żukowo), formerly the Parish Museum in Żukowo, has been operating since 1991 at the church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary next to the convent. Originally it was housed in medieval former outbuildings of the convent complex, namely a stable and a coach house. In 1989, 51 of the most valuable liturgical textiles, made in the convent workshop of the Norbertine nuns from the 16th to the end of the 18th century, were stolen from the treasury; they were never recovered.

In 2020 the museum moved to a new seat in a building adjoining the church on the churchyard side; the entrance leads through the Tourist Information Point. The exhibition includes, among other things, liturgical objects and chasubles embroidered by the Norbertine sisters in the 17th and 18th centuries.

The museum also covers the church gallery, where an Antwerp triptych from the early 16th century and a unique 17th-century cradle clock (zegar kolebnikowy) are displayed. Visits take place together with the church, with a guide, by prior arrangement and outside services.
