About the museum
The wooden buildings by the market square in Ustroń have belonged to Bronisław Palarczyk since 1982. In December 1998 he launched a private ethnographic museum there under the name “Stara Zagroda” (“The Old Homestead”).
The buildings are a reconstruction carried out on site. The original log-built residential house dated from 1768, and its door frames and two ceilings were used in the rebuilding. The cottage has a pitched roof covered with wooden shingles, and a wooden barn stands to the west.
The rich ethnographic collections are presented inside the buildings and in the yard. The museum also organises temporary exhibitions, but because of the character of the institution they can be visited only during the summer and winter school holidays.
