About the museum

The writer Zofia Kossak-Szatkowska lived in the Domek Ogrodnika (Gardener’s House) in Górki Wielkie from 1957 to 1968. The museum devoted to her life and work was established by her husband, Zygmunt Szatkowski, and the institution operates as a branch of the Muzeum Śląska Cieszyńskiego (Museum of Cieszyn Silesia).

The Gardener’s House, however, required a thorough renovation of the roof, foundations, cellars, joinery and thermal insulation, so the exhibition was temporarily moved to the renovated Dwór Kossaków (Kossak Manor) at 4 ul. Stary Dwór. In September 2026 work began on moving the exhibition back to its permanent seat. The building has already been renovated, and work on the surroundings is due to be completed by December 2026.

The museum introduces visitors to the figure of Zofia Kossak, her family and the place where she worked, in the vicinity of the manor complex with its park in Górki Wielkie.
