About the museum
The Muzeum Ustrońskie opened on 18 April 1986 on Hutnicza Street, on the site of the former “Klemens” ironworks. It is housed in a building from around 1800, one of the oldest brick structures in Ustroń. The museum is named after Jan Jarocki, and its collections include folk costumes, Ustroń embroidery and lace, and the sculpture “Hutnik” (The Ironworker).
The exhibition on the first floor presents selected themes from the history of Ustroń: old views of the town, portraits of notable residents, a model of a traditional farmstead, and the coats of arms and cast-iron plaques of the Komora Cieszyńska (Cieszyn Chamber). A separate section covers the Ustroń spa, including slag and peat baths, as well as metallurgy, foundry work and forging, with documents, photographs, products and models of hammers and presses.
In front of the museum and in its courtyard there is an industrial and agricultural open-air display with monumental forging presses, boundary stones of the Cieszyn Chamber and other technical monuments. The museum lies on the Szlak Zabytków Techniki (Route of Technical Monuments) of the Silesian Voivodeship and is open seven days a week.
