About the museum
The Regional Museum in Dobrodzień opened on 5 May 2017. It arose from the transformation of a Regional Room, which the Intercommunal Regional Society Dobrodzień–Zębowice founded in 2004. Today it is an organisational unit of the Gminny Ośrodek Kultury, Sportu i Biblioteki Publicznej (Municipal Centre for Culture, Sport and Public Library) in Dobrodzień, in whose building on Plac Wolności it is housed.
The museum collects exhibits documenting the history of the region. These are mainly written documents, photographs and maps, as well as objects of everyday use. One room has been set up as a former joiner’s workshop with tools and historic master’s diplomas, referring to the tradition of Dobrodzień as a town of joiners.
The collection also includes kitchen equipment and vessels, Silesian costumes and elements of local decoration, among which the Dobrodzień embroidery, with a motif of a pomegranate flower surrounded by stylised leaves, stands out. In the same building there is a tourist information point, where souvenirs can be bought, and one of the commune’s quest trails bears the name ‘Dobrodzień – miastem stolarzy’ (Dobrodzień – the town of joiners).
