About the museum
The idea of a museum in Piaseczno emerged as early as the 1960s and 1970s, but for decades it could not be realised. Collections of memorabilia of the former town were gathered by the regionalist Jerzy Dusza, and the Society of Friends of Piaseczno campaigned for the institution. The Regional Museum in Piaseczno opened on 5 November 2004 in several rooms of the rectory building at pl. Piłsudskiego 10, as part of the municipal cultural centre.
Because of the cramped conditions and the poor state of the building, the municipality converted the former rectory into a museum and conference facility; the works were completed in 2023. In 2018 the town council established an independent municipal cultural institution, initially under the name Muzeum Piaseczna (in formation). It also includes the historic manor house Poniatówka in the Książąt Mazowieckich Park and the wooden villa of the Zawadzki family, known as the “Zośka” House (Dom “Zośki”), in Zalesie Dolne.
In May 2024 the first permanent exhibition, devoted to the history of the town from the earliest times to the present day, was opened at the rectory. In June 2026 an exhibition on the Zawadzki family and the scouts of the Grey Ranks was opened at the “Zośka” House. The museum also runs museum lessons and workshops for children, young people and adults.
