About the museum
The Villa la Fleur Museum is a private institution based on the collection of Marek Roefler, assembled since the 1990s. Initially the collector was interested in Polish art of the first decades of the 20th century, and over time he focused on artists from Central and Eastern Europe who worked in Montparnasse and make up the École de Paris (School of Paris).
The first building, a villa erected in 1906 as a residence, was thoroughly renovated and adapted as a museum in 2009. The institution was founded in 2010, and since then it has run exhibition, publishing and educational activities. In 2021, after a two-year renovation, the second building was opened, with permanent and temporary exhibitions on three floors. A sculpture park lies between the two buildings.
The permanent collection includes paintings, sculptures, drawings and prints by, among others, Mojżesz Kisling, Eugeniusz Zak, Mela Muter, Szymon Mondzain and Tamara de Łempicka, sculptures by Bolesław Biegas and Xawery Dunikowski, a sculpture of the Zakopane School, and Art Deco furniture. In 2022 the museum received the Feliks Jasieński “Mangghi” Award in the institutions category.
