About the museum
The Muzeum Regionalne in Stalowa Wola was founded in 1999 as a local government cultural institution. Since 2002 its main seat has been in the Lubomirski Castle in Rozwadów, today a district of Stalowa Wola. The neoclassical building from the second half of the eighteenth century was erected by the Lubomirski family for the administration of their estates, and after the war it served educational institutions. After renovation it received exhibition rooms, a café and a museum shop, and it is surrounded by a garden laid out in a composition from the turn of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
In the attic of the castle the permanent exhibition “Stacja Rozwadów. Między Lwowem a Krakowem” (Rozwadów Station: Between Lwów and Kraków) operates. It was modernised in 2015–2016 and tells the story of the former town of Rozwadów against the background of the Dolne Nadsanie region. The first floor is reserved for temporary exhibitions.
In 2019 the Galeria Malarstwa Alfonsa Karpińskiego (Alfons Karpiński Painting Gallery) was opened in the former court building, and in 2022 the Muzeum Centralnego Okręgu Przemysłowego (COP Museum) in the former school workshops of the 1950s. The museum also manages permanent exhibitions in the Dom Katechetyczny (Catechetical House) and in the Rozwadowski Dom Kultury “Sokół” (Rozwadów Culture House “Sokół”), and in the future it is to open the Muzeum Kierownictwa Dywersji Armii Krajowej (Museum of the Home Army Sabotage Command) in the former cinema-theatre “Górka”.
