About the museum
The Muzeum Centralnego Okręgu Przemysłowego presents the history of Stalowa Wola, the main industrial and urban project of the Central Industrial District (COP), which was built in 1937–1939. The collections include objects from the factories that were founded or expanded within the COP, among them machine tools, part of a turbine, radios, gas meters, telephones, Art Deco crafts and military equipment from the late 1930s.
The museum is housed in the historic modernist former school workshops at ul. Hutnicza 17. The building was restored and adapted to its new function as part of a project co-financed by a programme announced by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage in 2017 and by European Union funds. The institution is a branch of the Regional Museum in Stalowa Wola.
Visitors can see the permanent exhibition “Centralny Okręg Przemysłowy. Narodziny innowacyjnego przemysłu w Polsce” (Central Industrial District: The Birth of Innovative Industry in Poland), the children’s exhibition “Miasto” (City), an open-air exhibition and the Pokój Zagadek (Puzzle Room), as well as temporary exhibitions. You can also take a virtual walk around the museum and use an audio guide.
