About the museum
Muzeum Rybackie Pod Strzechą in Jastarnia is a private museum founded and run by Juliusz Struck; since his death in 2016 it has been looked after by his family. It is housed in a building on Mickiewicza Street in Jastarnia, on the Mierzeja Helska (Hel Peninsula).
The exhibition shows nets and historic tools used to catch fish in the Baltic. A fisherman’s room from the early 19th century has also been reconstructed, with everyday objects from that time. On the ground floor a boatbuilding workshop is in operation, making boats and parts for small craft.
During the visit, Kashubian stories and legends are told. The museum is seasonal: it opens mainly in the summer season, and outside it by arrangement with the owner.
