About the museum
The first collections of a museum character were gathered in the library of the then Academy of Agriculture named after August Cieszkowski by its director Wacław Sokołowski, who as early as the late 1970s campaigned for a museum to be set up at the library. In the second half of the 1990s the further development of the institution was taken over by the Alumni Association, which equipped the exhibition hall and a small storeroom from its own funds.
Today the museum of the University of Life Sciences in Poznań is located at ul. Wojska Polskiego 69 and has more than 3,000 objects: documents, photographs, albums, medals and decorations, souvenirs, herbaria, textbooks, account books and student ID cards relating to the history of the university and its scholars and graduates. The permanent exhibition, arranged chronologically, shows the history of the university and keeps its traditions alive; the exhibits were donated by graduates and staff.
Among the most valuable items are documents of the State School of Horticulture from the interwar period, the original account book of the Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry from the 1920s and 1930s, photographs of the deans of this faculty from 1919–1950, and photographs of professors who pioneered agricultural and forestry sciences.
