About the museum
The museum is located on the site of the former rocket range at Rąbka near Łeba, which the Germans built in 1940. Between 1940 and 1945 rocket missiles were tested here as part of the so-called retaliation weapons programme, including the Rheintochter and the Rheinbote. After the war the area was taken over by the Red Army.
Between 1967 and 1974 a Rocket Sounding Station (Stacja Sondażu Rakietowego) operated in the area, where the Polish meteorological rocket Meteor was launched, reaching an altitude of about 92 kilometres. The area now lies within the Słowiński National Park, and the museum is run by the private company Stamir s.c.
On the museum grounds, remains of wartime structures have survived: a command bunker, the crater of a launch pit, and the foundations of radar stations and an assembly hall. The exhibition presents rockets and their components from various periods, from the Second World War onwards, as well as militaria and themed exhibitions. From the observation tower there is a view of Lake Łebsko, the dunes and the Baltic Sea.
