About the museum
The Muzeum Słowińskiego Parku Narodowego was established in 1974 and has been modernised several times. Until 2019 it was located in Smołdzino; in the same year it was moved to nearby Czołpino. It is run by the Słowiński National Park.
The museum is housed in the historic Lighthouse Keepers’ Settlement of 1871, which comprises a two-storey residential building, a barn, a livestock building and outbuildings. The exhibition shows the values of the Słowiński Coast landscape: natural values shaped by the forces of nature and cultural values, which are traces of human activity. It presents how the location of the area in the coastal zone of the southern Baltic has shaped the flora, the fauna and the material and intangible culture of Pomerania.
The museum has two branches: in Rąbka, devoted mainly to the dunes of the Łeba Spit (Mierzeja Łebska), and in Rowy, with the exhibition “Beach – Four Seasons”. A visit often begins with a short film shown on the full hour.
