About the museum
The museum was founded in 1975 as the Sala Historyczna Farmacji Lubelszczyzny (Historical Hall of Pharmacy of the Lublin Region) at ul. Mieszka I. Its location away from the centre meant that it was not popular with visitors, so the collections were moved to a tenement house at ul. Bramowa, where the Apteka-Muzeum (Pharmacy Museum) was solemnly opened in 1984.
Since 1988 the museum has been housed in a tenement house at ul. Grodzka 5a in the Old Town of Lublin. The institution is run by the company Centrala Farmaceutyczna Cefarm and occupies two rooms.
The first room contains a dispensing and prescription room with stylish furniture from the second half of the 19th century, historical pharmacy glassware and pharmacists’ tools. The second room is a reconstruction of a laboratory-storeroom; it houses a rich collection of scales and old prescriptions, labels and other documents used in pharmacy.
