About the museum
The Mińsk Land Museum was established in 2005 on the basis of a resolution of the Town Council of Mińsk Mazowiecki. Its seat is a historic villa, known as the palace of Countess Pelagia Łubieńska, built at the end of the 1930s on the site of the former Mińsk estates. The museum also includes a branch in the villa of Dr Hubert, which houses the Museum of the 7th Lublin Uhlan Regiment at ul. gen. K. Sosnkowskiego.
The collections include materials devoted to the history of the town and its surroundings and to the 7th Lublin Uhlan Regiment, photographs, documents, iconography, maps, medals and works of art, including works by the sculptor Louis Długosz and Mińsk artists. The permanent exhibitions show the history of the town in paintings and prints by local artists and the history of the Ochotnicza Straż Pożarna (Volunteer Fire Brigade), founded in 1881.
Among the exhibits is a watchmaker’s, optical and jeweller’s workshop run by Lucjan and Władysław Dąbrowski, which operated from 1936 until the end of the 1980s and has been almost entirely re-created. The museum organises temporary exhibitions, publishes books, runs museum lessons, workshops, meetings and concerts, and works with local associations.
