About the museum

The Muzeum Ziemi w Kletnie is a private institution that grew out of the collecting passion of Arnold Miziołek. It is located in the mountain village of Kletno at the foot of the Śnieżnik Massif, not far from the Jaskinia Niedźwiedzia (Bear Cave).

The collections include minerals, rocks and fossils from around the world, and specimens from the nearby mountains: the Śnieżnik Massif, the Góry Bialskie (Bialskie Mountains) and the Góry Złote (Golden Mountains). Four fossilised nests with dinosaur eggs, reptile trackways from about 250 million years ago from the area of Nowa Ruda, and giant ammonites from Morocco attract particular attention.

A Jurassic park is also located at the museum, with life-size (1:1) dinosaur models, a site of early humans and a reconstruction of a Permian fossil forest. Tours are always conducted with a guide, and the museum also runs geological workshops and demonstrations of stone cutting and polishing.
