About the museum
The Piła Military Museum was established on the initiative of enthusiasts of military history from the Pilskie Stowarzyszenie Historyczno-Militarne (Piła Historical-Military Association), until 29 November 2017 the Przedmoście Piła Association. It is located on the grounds of the former military airfield in the north-western part of Piła. Its task is to collect materials on military history, military technology and the military past of the town, which was a strong centre of military motor training.
The collections include lorries, armoured personnel carriers, technical support vehicles and tanks, most of them technically operational. The most valuable exhibit is the Su-22M4 ground-attack aircraft, nicknamed “Tygrysek” (“Little Tiger”). The permanent exhibition “Od Sekcji Automobilowej do Służby Czołgowo-Samochodowej” (“From the Automobile Section to the Tank and Motor Service”) presents the traditions of Polish military motor training dating back to 1918, while in an original shelter hangar (schronohangar) there is an exhibition “Poznaj 100-letnią historię pilskiego lotniska” (“Discover the 100-year history of the Piła airfield”), which recalls, among other things, the aircraft produced by the Albatros works during the First World War.
The museum is to change its location within the airfield: it is to receive nine shelter hangars, an area for dynamic demonstrations called the Autodrome, and an underground command bunker where an exhibition on the Cold War is planned. Visits take place on Sundays at 11:00, and on other days with a guide by telephone arrangement.

In navigation enter the address ul. Wałecka 20 (seat of MWiK Piła) and make sure the route runs via Al. Niepodległości, as navigation sometimes directs drivers along a road that avoids ul. Zamiejska. Drive in through the airfield gate and turn left following the signpost.
