About the museum

The depot at ul. Konstantynowska 115 was built on 17 December 1910, together with the opening of the line to Konstantynów Łódzki. It comprised a parking and repair hall with five pits, residential and office buildings, a warehouse, a forge and a machine hall supplying the line with power. The parking hall is one of the first reinforced-concrete buildings in Łódź. The depot was later extended and modernised, and Brus was the last depot in the city to operate Type 5N trams, until 1991.

The depot ended its transport operations on 31 March 2012. A year later it was opened to visitors as a museum: at the turn of April and May 2013 the first historic trams and buses arrived here, and in July the site was opened to the public for the first time. The museum is run by volunteers of the Club of Lovers of Old Trams in Łódź (Klub Miłośników Starych Tramwajów w Łodzi), with the support of city institutions.

Internal exhibitions in the former administrative building and an outdoor display of tram cars and buses can be seen on the depot grounds. The collection includes, among others, the only modernised Konstal 805Na in Poland, the Lilpop III car and the Herbrand car from the era of the factory owners, which awaits restoration. Ticket punches, traffic signalling, tram electrical meters and passenger information are also on show.
