About the museum
The Casa-Museu Alfredo da Silva keeps alive the memory of the founder of the Companhia União Fabril (CUF), the industrialist Alfredo da Silva. The building, dating from 1908, was the first office of the factory and included an apartment used by the owner of the company.
On the ground floor there is a historical reconstruction of the CUF's central office and, on the first floor, a reconstruction of the home the industrialist had in Barreiro. The house is located in the former CUF industrial complex, today the Baía do Tejo Business Park (Quimiparque).
It is linked to the Museu Industrial Baía do Tejo, housed in the former Central Diesel, which organises guided tours of the former CUF site and its industrial and social buildings. All visits are by prior appointment.
