About the museum
The Museu de Sítio de Ervamoira (site museum) opened in 1997 at the Quinta de Ervamoira, property of the Ramos Pinto wine house, in the Côa Valley, between the villages of Muxagata and Chãs. The estate lies in the heart of the Vale do Côa Archaeological Park, and the Ramos Pinto house maintains here its links to the arts and to the meeting of cultures.
The visit presents several units linked to the history of the site and to the wine-making activity of the Douro: the natural heritage, the Roman and medieval archaeological heritage, the ethnographic heritage, the history of the Casa Ramos Pinto, the estates and the wine-making of the Upper Douro.
Visits to the estate and the museum are organised by prior booking and led by a guide. Access is through the village of Muxagata, with an all-terrain vehicle, or through the village of Chãs, with a regular car. The Fundação Côa Parque offers combined visits to rock art units and to Ervamoira.
