About the museum

Archeopark Hanušovce is part of the workplace of the Krajské múzeum v Prešove in Hanušovce nad Topľou. It shows visitors how people in the region and in eastern Slovakia lived, from prehistoric hunting to the early Middle Ages.

The park consists of reconstructions of dwellings based on archaeological finds: the dwelling of Aurignacian hunters (34,000–28,000 BC), based on the find from Tibava; a log house of farmers of the Tiszadob group from the Neolithic, based on the site at Košice-Galgovec; a Bronze Age dwelling, based on the site at Nižný Hrušov; a sunken house from the La Tène period, based on the find at the hillfort in Zemplín; and a log house from the 9th century, based on the Skrabské site. The park also includes a glass and jewellery kiln of the ancient Slavs and a working replica of a Celtic pottery kiln.

The park presents itself as living archaeology, with activities for children and adults.
