About the museum
The Galéria a múzeum ľudového umenia in the village of Fintice was established in 2014 as a result of a project programme to strengthen the cultural potential of the region. It is a budget organisation of the village with legal personality and is listed in the register of museum institutions of the Slovak Republic under number ZMP/1/2016. It is housed in the historic building of a former Baroque granary, which is part of the national cultural monument – the manor house on Grófske nádvorie (Count's Courtyard).
The museum builds and presents a collection with a regional focus. It presents the history of the village in three exhibitions: one devoted to Jozef Kolarčík-Fintický, an ethnographic collector from eastern Slovakia; one to the noble families of Fintice; and one to archaeology and the life of the village's inhabitants.
By personal arrangement, a visit to the museum can also include the church and the noble family crypt of the Dessewffy family.
