About the museum
This five-room miner's house from 1776, known locally as “Do Vargy”, was declared a national cultural monument after the death of its last owner, Daniel Böhmer; since 1986 it has been managed by the Liptov Museum. Originally it was a house of the stable type; later the interior was rebuilt into its present form.
The exhibition presents the way of life and housing with the original furnishings from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. In the kitchen, which the family used mainly in winter, there is an exhibition on the history of mining. In a separate stable there is a demonstration of cattle and sheep breeding, typical of the Bocianska dolina.
In summer the museum holds events on mining traditions and demonstrations of hay transport in backpacks, the so-called Bocké batohy.
