About the museum
The exhibition is on the first floor of the municipal office building, right in the centre of Terchová. It presents the development of the village and of its most famous native, Juraj Jánošík. It is managed by the Považské múzeum.
On entering, visitors find themselves in a replica of a traditional Terchová room. The main part is devoted to Jánošík: historical facts from his life, his banditry and his execution. The atmosphere of the period is conveyed by three-dimensional objects such as the dereš (traditional coat), a whip (korbáč), shackles (putá), a wide belt and a valaška (shepherd's axe).
The reflection of the Jánošík tradition in folk art is shown by wooden sculptures, painted ceramics, glass paintings, copper reliefs and drawings. A short documentary film about Jánošík's life (about 20 minutes) is part of the visit.

Admission is also free for holders of a journalist's card and of a Zväz múzeí card. A guided tour in a foreign language costs €15 per group (to be booked at least 48 hours in advance, only for groups of more than 10 persons). Entry outside opening hours is possible only by reservation for groups of more than 10 persons, with a 100% surcharge. Other discounts are not recognised, and discounts cannot be combined. Card payment is possible at the ticket office.
