About the museum
The exhibition is housed in the historic building of Bosák's bank (Bosákova banka) on the corner of Hlavná and Levočská ulica in Prešov. The building was constructed in 1923–1924 in the Art Nouveau style as a representative financial institution. Michal Bosák, a native of the village of Okrúhle, left for the United States at the age of sixteen, where he worked his way up from mine worker to banker. In 1920 he founded the Americko-slovenská banka (American-Slovak Bank) in Bratislava, with nine branches, among them one in Prešov.
The exhibition was opened by the Krajské múzeum v Prešove on 14 September 2026. It was prepared in cooperation with Assoc. Prof. Martin Javor, using items from the museum's collections and loaned exhibits that had previously been presented in the Múzeum vysťahovalectva z územia Slovenska do Severnej Ameriky – Kasigarda.
Visitors can see the original premises of the bank and its vaults, a period-furnished office, a portrait of Michal Bosák by the Prešov academic painter Július Török, and school benches from the village of Okrúhle. A separate section is devoted to Slovak emigration to the USA – travel documents, writings and commemorative objects.
