About the museum
The museum grew out of the efforts of enthusiasts who wanted to save retired aircraft from being scrapped; the first exhibit, a MiG-15 fighter, arrived in 2001. The collection is displayed outdoors at Slavnica airfield, which is operated by the Aeroklub Dubnica nad Váhom (Dubnica Aero Club). The aero club manages the museum, and its members contributed ten aircraft to the collection.
Among the exhibits, besides the MiG-15, are the An-2, the Aero L-29 Delfín trainer, the Mi-2 helicopter, the MiG-21, the Su-7 and the Su-22, the Zlín Z-37A Čmelák and, as the main attraction, the Tupolev Tu-134A airliner. A MiG-21MF came into the collection in October 2011 from the Vojenské historické múzeum in Piešťany (Military History Museum). Information boards describe each aircraft.
