About the museum

The municipal museum is housed in a former farm building that has undergone complete reconstruction. Funds for the museum were obtained from European Union sources under the cross-border cooperation operational programme with the Moravian town of Hluk. The building is accompanied by a small square with wooden stalls and an adjoining amphitheatre.

The museum presents the archaeological, historical, ethnographic, glass-making and military parts of its exhibition. The archaeological exhibition shows, for example, mammoth bone finds, stone tools from the Nemšová brickworks and finds from the Ľuborča burial ground. The historical part contains archive materials, and the ethnographic part folk textiles, costumes and traditional tools.

The largest part of the exhibition is military topography, cartography and printing, which according to the town is the only one of its kind in Slovakia. The collection was formed mainly from the collections of citizens of Nemšová, the Trenčín Museum in Trenčín and the Topographic Institute in Banská Bystrica.
