About the museum
The birth house of Ľudovít Štúr and Alexander Dubček in Uhrovec is a national cultural monument. Originally it was the Uhrovec school with a teacher's flat. The first exhibition opened there on 31 October 1965, on the 150th anniversary of Ľudovít Štúr's birth; at the beginning of the 1970s the house was renovated, and in 1979 a second, expanded exhibition on Štúr's family, youth and work was opened.
Ľudovít Štúr was born in the house on 28 October 1815, the son of the teacher Samuel Štúr. 106 years later, on 27 November 1921, Alexander Dubček, a significant European politician, was born in the same house. In November 1995 a third part of the exhibition opened, the Alexander Dubček memorial room, which presents the key milestones of his life.
The house is administered by the Trenčín Museum in Trenčín. The branch has been closed since 1 June 2026 until further notice for reconstruction and the implementation of a new exhibition project.
