About the museum
The Tekov Museum in Levice is a regional museum whose seat is in the grounds of Levice Castle. The permanent exhibition is in the Captain's Building in the castle grounds and presents the archaeology and history of the castle, the history of pharmacy, the social life of the town, guilds and crafts, folk costume and the exhibition Ladislav Bielik – August 1968. Other exhibition spaces in the castle grounds include the Dobó Manor House and the Gallery of Jozef Nécsey.
The museum manages two outlying exhibitions in the surrounding area. In Brhlovce there is a conservation area of folk architecture with rock dwellings in Šurda lane, and in Bohunice there is a water mill. The exhibition in Bohunice is temporarily closed, because the bridge leading to it has been closed due to its emergency condition.
The building and grounds are complemented by a concert hall and an amphitheatre, which the museum makes available for cultural events and hire. The museum also takes part in the tourism action plan Región troch riek (Region of Three Rivers) and publishes specialist works, for example the Vlastivedný spravodaj (Local History Bulletin) and the Zborník Tekovského múzea (Proceedings of the Tekov Museum).
