About the museum

The Arheopark Emona takes visitors along ten points of the city as it was from the 1st to the 6th century. Visitors can enter the Emonska hiša, visit the Zgodnjekrščansko središče (Early Christian Centre) and walk along the Rimski zid (Roman Wall), where in a green oasis in the middle of the city the finest remains of Roman Emona await. The park is run by the Muzej in galerije mesta Ljubljane.

The Emonska hiša stands at Mirje, on the site of the former Jakopičev vrt. There visitors see the architectural remains of everyday life in Emona: rooms for rest and socialising, house entrances from one of the Roman streets, and the channels through which waste was flushed away.

The park is open seasonally; for 2026 from 15 May to 15 September. Visitors receive a leaflet with a map, and families can follow the route with the printed guide Emona od E do A. Throughout the year Roman remains can also be seen in situ in the cellar of the Mestni muzej Ljubljana.
