About the museum
Center Rinka is a multi-purpose centre for the sustainable development of the Solčava area. It brings together the various activities of the region, houses a tourist information point for visitors and is run by Center Rinka – zavod za turizem in trajnostni razvoj Solčavskega. It stands in the village of Solčava, about five kilometres before the entrance to the Krajinski park Logarska dolina.
The central space is a multi-purpose hall for multimedia presentations, lectures, workshops, visiting exhibitions and smaller cultural events. A circular permanent exhibition titled Solčavsko – sprehod v naročje Alp runs around the hall. It leads visitors from the prehistoric dwelling into the house, to the courtyard with wood and sheep, into the forest, to the stream, to the mountain meadow and up to the rocks and mountains. The exhibition includes multimedia content and shows the flora, fauna, cultural heritage and traditional crafts of the area.
On the ground floor there is an exhibition and sales area with products made of Solčava mountain wood, wool of the native Jezersko-Solčava sheep, Solčava marble and foods from Solčava farms; there are also a café, a reading corner, an internet corner and a children's corner.
