About the museum
The Galerija Franceta Miheliča (France Mihelič Gallery) is a detached unit of the Loški muzej (Škofja Loka Museum) and occupies the first and second floors of a former granary on Spodnji trg in Škofja Loka. It was founded in 1994, when the painter and printmaker France Mihelič (1907–1998) gave Škofja Loka a substantial donation of 59 works of art in memory of his birthplace Virmaše and of the early childhood years he spent in these parts.
The gallery holds a permanent collection of the artist’s prints, drawings and paintings. Alongside it is the exhibition Zbirka v nastajanju (Collection in the Making), prepared by the Združenje umetnikov Škofja Loka (Škofja Loka Artists’ Association).
