Opening hoursAdmission €5

About the museum

In the village of Tomaj on the Karst stands the Kosovel family farmstead, where the poet Srečko Kosovel (1904–1926) spent the last period of his life and died. The farmstead is listed in the register of cultural heritage as a cultural monument of local importance. It is managed by the Kosovel Library Sežana (Kosovelova knjižnica Sežana), and the Goriški muzej (Gorizia Museum) oversees the collection.

Within the KONS-DOM project, led by the Municipality of Sežana, the farmstead was comprehensively renovated: the house was structurally reinforced, the façades, interior and garden were restored, and a new entrance with a reception centre and a shop was created. The farmstead consists of three buildings linked by the garden.

In the renovated rooms visitors learn about the everyday life, relationships, creativity and social commitment of the Kosovel family; the stories of individual family members are also told with the help of modern technologies. The farmstead is linked by the Kosovel Trail to the Kosovel Room in Sežana, where the poet was born.
