About the museum

In the old school building in Sežana, which houses the Sežana Adult Education Centre (Ljudska univerza Sežana), the Kosovel Memorial Room has been set up since 1976 in the room where Srečko Kosovel was born on 18 March 1904. The concept was prepared by the architect Janez Suhadolc, who furnished the room in constructivist style.

In 2014 the room was renovated to a design by the academic painter Simon Kastelic. Visits are guided: visitors are taken through the poet’s life and literary work, watch a film about him, see the exhibits and listen to readings from his works.

The room is one of two key points on the Kosovel Trail, which links it with the Kosovel Farmstead in Tomaj through the Karst landscape.
