About the museum
The Dravinja Valley Fire Brigade Museum was founded in October 2000 and first presented itself to the public in April 2001. Besides its basic task of preserving fire brigade heritage, it has the task of bringing together the surrounding fire brigade associations in collecting fire brigade memorabilia and of presenting the collections to the public, especially to younger generations.
The museum covers 250 square metres on the upper floor of the Fire Station of Slovenske Konjice. Currently thirteen special collections are on display, covering decorations, lamps, fire appliances and tools, firefighters’ equipment, helmets and uniforms, and many other objects related to firefighting. They are complemented by four general collections with professional literature, chronicles, original manuscripts, cups, photographs, calendars and historical memorabilia.
In 2020 the museum celebrated its 20th anniversary. Visits must be booked in advance.
