About the museum
The collection of military objects from the Austro-Hungarian period is a private museum collection in the centre of Slovenske Konjice, in the immediate vicinity of the church of St George. It opened on 18 September 2004.
Through old postcards, photographs, sabres, helmets, medals and other military, patriotic and religious objects, visitors get to know the time when soldiers fought for the Emperor in Galicia, in Serbia, along the Soča and elsewhere, where Austro-Hungarian units served. Most of the exhibited objects are connected with the First World War, and many also with Slovenske Konjice and life in the town.
The collection preserves the memory of the period marked by the motto “Vse za vero, dom in cesarja” (Everything for Faith, Home and Emperor). Among the topics presented is the Javna straža (Public Guard) and the Soča front.
