About the museum
The stronghold on the small hill of Ravelnik (519 m) defended the strategic road across the Predel pass, which was of exceptional importance on the Isonzo Front for supplying the soldiers with ammunition, food and medicine. A short, well-kept path through a small wood leads to the restored remains of the first defence line of the Austro-Hungarian army in the Bovec basin.
On display are firing and communication trenches, caverns, bunkers and restored barracks, and at the top a crater left by the only shell that hit the positions. The museum is part of the Peace Trail (Pot miru) from the Alps to the Adriatic. It is open all year round and admission is free; for a unique insight into the heritage of the Isonzo Front, a visit with a soldier in uniform from the Društvo 1313 is recommended.
